Choose the company working week

Set which weekdays count toward leave and understand which open requests are recalculated.

What this guide helps you do

The company working week tells HRStuff which weekdays are ordinary workdays. Leave on a day outside that week costs no leave, and the setting is also used when the Leave owed in money report estimates a daily salary rate.

Open ADMINISTRATION, Settings, choose Edit in Company Settings, then find Working week. This setting is different from Calendar week starts from, which only moves the first column on a calendar.

Choose the normal workdays

The supplied choices cover Monday to Friday, Sunday to Thursday, Monday to Saturday, Monday to Friday plus Sunday, and Monday to Thursday. If the company already has another valid pattern, HRStuff shows that saved pattern rather than replacing it with the nearest preset.

  • Choose the week used by the company’s leave policy, not the days one particular employee happens to work.

  • HRStuff uses one working week for the whole company. An individual entitlement can change how many leave days an employee receives, but it cannot change which weekdays count as work.

  • Check public holidays separately. A date must be both a company workday and not a public holiday to consume a full leave day.

What HRStuff recalculates

  • Upcoming pending requests are re-counted because they still reserve leave while awaiting a decision.

  • Upcoming approved requests are re-counted because they will contribute to the employee’s used balance.

  • Leave that has started and leave in a closed leave year keeps the total recorded when it was booked.

  • Rejected and cancelled requests are not rewritten. They used no entitlement and remain the historical result recorded at the time.

  • Every request whose working-day total changes receives its own Activity Log entry naming the employee, leave type, dates, old total and new total.

Change the working week

  1. Review current leave first

Check pending and approved bookings that include a weekday being added or removed. Tell affected employees or approvers before a material policy change.

  2. Choose the new Working week and Save

HRStuff saves the setting and re-counts upcoming open bookings as one operation.

  3. Read the confirmation

It says how many bookings were checked and identifies any totals that changed. A warning is expected when existing requests were affected.

  4. Review balances and calendars

Spot-check the named requests, employee balances, Team Calendar and the Leave owed in money report.

Choose the first calendar column separately

Calendar week starts from offers Monday or Sunday. Changing it alters the visual layout of calendars only. It does not add Sunday to the working week, remove Monday, change a leave balance or recalculate a request.

If you need both changes, save the correct Working week and Calendar week starts from together, then verify the leave result rather than judging it by column position.
